Terry Oistad Job Summary:
Set up and operate manual and CNC machines for the manufacture and repair of plastic injection machine molds. Maintain industrial machines through applied knowledge of mathematics, metal properties, layout, and strong mechanical aptitude. What you'll do: Must be able to set up and machine components within tolerance from prints, sketches and CAD models. Ability to develop a bill of materials and determine fabrication methods. Knowledgeable with speeds & feeds of HSS and carbide tooling. Ability to use overhead cranes and proper rigging application. Proficient with shop math (trigonometry and metric conversions). Disassemble, repair and reassemble injection molds using hand tools. Diagnose minor hydraulic and electrical issues and perform repairs as needed. Works with scheduling, engineering, maintenance and production to meet the needs of the customer. Works closely with the Engineering department for growth and strategy of the Tool room Department. Maintain proper housekeeping in your workstation according to the CCI 6S plan. Practice safety in your workstation and all facilities according to the guidelines of the CCI Handbook. Eliminate waste and add value to Fernco's production operation to help control labor materials and manufacturing expenses. Work with production on mold tryouts and mold modifications. Communicate with the molding department, improving tooling productivity and quality. Complete all other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Classification:
This is a full-time, hourly position. What your experience is like:
Formal training on tool room equipment: (lathe, mill, grinders, etc.) Reading and understanding blueprints class - minimum one semester. High school diploma. Minimum 7 years, must be able to effectively set up and operate: Manual and CNC lathe Manual vertical Mill and CNC Mill Surface Grinder Boring Mill HAAS, Fadal and Fanuc controls a plus Minimum 2 years, must be able to do programing: Mastercam Toolpath and programing Robotic programing Minimum 3 years, Cad and Design Solidworks Injection Mold Design Welding experience with: MIG welding TIG welding Welding various metals (aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel) Tool Welding is a plus
