Specific Responsibilities and Qualifications

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Manager, Education and Community Programs, assist with the programs and opportunities to enhance the community's experience with all events, live and digital, produced by or presented by the Flint Institute of Music (FIM) Collect, coordinate, and respond to schools who signup for educational field trips. Track bussing subsidies and provide correspondence as directed. In collaboration with Audience Services and the Manager of Community Programs to coordinate hiring, planning, personal and professional development opportunities for the Youth Usher Corps. Communicate with schools/groups to bring educational opportunities including Hocus Focus, Flint Rep on the Road, Troubadours, etc. Manage funder expectations for grants position is responsible for. Build productive relationships with students, families, colleagues, artists, members of other arts organizations, educators, and educational and community partners. Attend all events for which they are responsible and be a supporting member of the Education and Community Engagement team for all its events and activities. Other duties and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of community-focused education programs in arts and cultural institutions, preferred. Demonstrable experience managing and implementing educational community outreach programs. Knowledge of the Flint community is a plus. Valid Michigan Driver's license and reliable transportation required. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree a plus, but not required. Strong organization and project management skills. Excellent communications and customer service skills. Ability to encourage community involvement and to work with diverse populations. Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities. Self-motivated with a positive attitude. Willingness and ability to work the hours required to complete the position. This may include night and weekends.
