General Summary The position of Faculty Specialist I-Professional Specialist, in the Addiction Studies Program, is housed in the School of Interdisciplinary Health Programs (SIHP). The position is for a 12-month, Fiscal Year position located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Expected start date is January 4, 2027.
Major Duties Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Addiction Studies program (typical teaching load would be 15 credits per fall and spring semesters, and 7.5 credits in summer sessions with variations by mutual agreement).
Promote and facilitate teaching excellence and support a student-centered culture, including course coordination of a multiple section course.
Plan, develop, and deliver on-campus, online, and hybrid academic programs utilizing evidence based guidelines.
Contribute to an interdisciplinary environment of research, instruction, andmunity collaborations.
Provide service to the Addiction Studies program, school, university, profession, andmunity.
Contribute to program development, as needed.
Assist with the implementation of special programs, as assigned.
Participate in student recruitment and program promotion events.
Minimum Qualifications Earned master's degree or PhD in a professional field such as Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work from an accredited institution.
Five or more years of experience working in the co-occurring disorder or addiction field.
Academic background andor training pertaining to the mental health and addiction field.
Excellent teaching record.
Excellent analytical, written, presentation, and interpersonalmunication skills.
Desired Qualifications Holds an active professional health license (e.g., LPC, LMSW, LP).
Holds an active addiction credential (e.g., CAADC, CADC).
Supervisory experience within the field of mental health andor addiction.
Experience in curriculum design and assessment of academic programs.
Demonstrated experience using best practices for online and hybrid curriculum development, evaluation of teaching, and use of innovative approaches in course delivery.
Kledge of Addiction Studies academic programs.
Kledge of literature and research within the substance use disorderaddiction field.
Experience in promoting and participating in recruitment and marketing events.
