Position Function:
The Instructional Designer works within the College of Business in support of the Boots to Business Revenue Readiness (B2B RR) cooperative agreement funded by the US Small Business Administration (SBA). The follow-on training program known as Boots to Business- Execute and Grow, provides self-paced, on demand, entrepreneurship training to veterans and military spouses nationally.

Provide online training to veterans, service disable veterans, reservists, national-guard members and transitioning service members interested in starting a business.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deliver self-paced, on-demand, engaging training programs and other learning opportunities focused on entrepreneurship and small business ownership.
- Collaborate with B2B RR Director and the SBA Office of Veterans Business Development (OVBD) to identify and get approval for course subjects to be included.
- Coordinate with MSU Extension Service for registration platform and self-paced, on-demand delivery using the Canvas platform.
- Work with existing training materials to transition to self-paced versions, and/or with subject matter experts to develop new material.
- Monitor and report completion and other metrics of effectiveness for training programs.
- Coordinate marketing of the courses with the Director and the B2B Program Coordinator.
- Utilize good design practices and technologies to facilitate distance instruction.
- Assist with the website as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a Business (Finance or Accounting) degree. 2 years experience demonstrating experience designing and developing online or hybrid courses. Proficiency with Canvas and other learning management systems and related instructional technologies. Proficiency with presentation and/or video editing software (e.g.Preferred Qualifications:
Veteran or Military Spouse Master's Degree in instructional design, educational technology, Business (Finance or Accounting) or a related field Knowledge or experience in Small Business Ownership Strong, demonstrated in-person presentation and communication skillsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong, analytical, problem-solving, research and writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across organizational levels and with different units and divisions of the university.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently while collaborating with others. Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
- Travel is normally limited.
- Frequent externally imposed deadlines, set and revised beyond one's control.
