  • Part-Time (Year-Round) PhD Swim School PhD Swim School is a premier swim school committed to providing the highest quality, cutting-edge swim instruction while compensating our staff accordingly.
We specialize in survival swim instruction for infants, toddlers, and young children, as well as excellence in competitive stroke development. Our instructors teach back-to-back private lessons (15 or 30 minutes per class, 1 student per class) in small, 86-90°F pools using our proven curriculum. We focus on developing each child's survival skills, stroke technique, independence, and confidence in the water. We are looking for a long-term team member who is mature, reliable, outgoing, and excited to learn the very best methods for teaching young children to swim. Schedule & Availability We are currently hiring for an May 2026 start date.
Available shifts include:
Monday:
3:00 PM
  • 7:15
PM Friday:
3:00 PM
  • 7:00
PM Sunday:
12:00 PM
  • 5:00 PM Candidates must be available to teach at least three consistent days per week and maintain the same schedule each session.
We highly value schedule stability for our students and families. This is a year-round, part-time position with approximately 3-25 hours per week , depending on availability (3-5 hour shifts, 3-4 days per week). We are seeking candidates who want to work year-round (not summer-only). We are happy to work around college class schedules and encourage local students who remain in the area during school breaks to apply. Why This Position Is a Great Fit This role is perfect for individuals who: Love working with young children and their families Thrive in a fast-paced, active environment Enjoy building lasting relationships Want meaningful, purpose-driven work Are seeking consistent, part-time hours year-round Compensation & Training Paid comprehensive training: $20/hour After successful completion of training, instructors teach independently starting at $20/hour Regular raises as teaching skills and proficiency increase Supportive leadership team and ongoing professional development Responsibilities Complete and pass comprehensive swim instructor training Teach private swim lessons following the PhD Swim School curriculum Arrive on time and dressed appropriately for instruction Maintain a positive, nurturing demeanor with students Provide brief, positive feedback to parents after each class Log work hours and student progress accurately in Jackrabbit Maintain cleanliness in pool, locker, and staff areas Assist with closing duties Communicate promptly and professionally with leadership Attend required training clinics and staff meetings Qualifications Minimum of 2 years experience working with and/or parenting young children (ages 12-7) At least 19 years old with reliable transportation Ability to pass a background check Strong communicator with children and families Warm, outgoing, and personable Comfortable in a busy environment with moderate noise levels Physically able to work in a warm, chlorinated pool for up to 5 hours Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Comfortable learning and using team software (Flock & Jackrabbit) Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy Able to receive feedback and continuously improve Independent yet collaborative team player Our Mission People love working at PhD Swim School because we are deeply committed to preventing childhood drowning through practical survival skills, community education, and strong family relationships.
