JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the designated district or ESC administrator, the Special Education Coordinator is responsible for the case management of special education students, and may include students who live in the designated district but who attend out-of-district schools. The Coordinator will also help coordinate development of IEP and 504 plans for in-district students. Additionally, the Coordinator will assist with preschool transition meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current Ohio State Board of Education license as an Intervention Specialist or Pupil Services license Three years experience working with students with disabilities Masters Degree in administration or special education preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as the case manager for special education students who attend out-of-district schools (e.g., St. Joseph, St. Patrick, LEAP, ALC) Serve as the case manager for students receiving the Autism Scholarship and/or the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Coordinate the development of IEP and 504 plans for district students Assist in writing IEPs or ISPs for both in-district and out-of-district students Conduct FBAs and BIPs Facilitate
IEP/ISP/ETR
meetings and transition meetings as a district representative for both in-district and out-of-district students Participate in preschool transition meetings as a district representative Coordinate the English Learner Program for district students Communicate, as needed, with parents to resolve program concerns and/or discuss individual parent concerns Serve as a resource to staff and school administrators in preparing required documents Help ensure program is compliant with current state and federal regulations; help maintain required program records; assist in preparing and submitting required reports Establish an efficient and effective system to communicate with staff at multiple locations.
