Category Schools - Reading Specialist Job Type Contract Empower young learners to become confident readers in this rewarding contract opportunity as a Reading Interventionist. This dynamic position is designed for a passionate Reading Specialist eager to make a measurable difference in student literacy in the Brookville, PA area. You'll collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support evidence-based instructional strategies, and help foster a culture of literacy growth across grade levels.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Pennsylvania State Educator License with Reading Specialist endorsement At least 2 years of recent teaching experience strongly preferred Solid foundation in literacy intervention, assessment, and instruction Ability to translate data into actionable instructional strategies Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Primary Responsibilities:
Partner with teachers, instructional staff, and specialists to boost reading and writing outcomes Use assessment data to pinpoint student strengths and areas for improvement Deliver targeted, small-group reading interventions, typically in 30-minute rotations (groups of about 6 students) Occasionally provide in-class (push-in) support to maximize literacy growth Mentor and assist teachers in adopting evidence-based literacy practices Contribute insights to a cohesive, data-driven literacy support system Adhere to the district's teacher contract schedule What's in It for
