The incumbent identifies behavioral goals and intervention techniques and recommends no aversive behavioral change methods. While maintaining some direct contact with the child and school personnel, the position primarily provides assessment, program design, and monitoring rather than direct therapy. As requested, the Behavior Specialist - Education may participate as a consultant in special child-centered, family focused meetings along with the school personnel.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field.

Experience:

1 year of experience working with children.

Licenses, Certifications & Clearances:

• Act 33/34 Clearances
• FBI Clearance
• Valid State of PA Class 1 Drivers License Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Designs behavior modification systems and specific behavior plans that are individualized for each child/adolescent.
• Maintains notes, data analysis, data collection methods, and other required paperwork or reports.
• Meets with the child, family, school officials, and other treatment team members as required.
• Reports the child's/adolescent's progress at IEP meetings, including an overview of data as it relates to progress in multiple life domains, specific symptoms, issues, and needs, and the plan for continued treatment.
• Completes incident reports as required and follows mandated reporter guidelines for reporting suspected abuse.
• Maintains confidentiality of all consumers, as well as follows HIPAA laws.
• Performs functional behavioral assessments with consumers as needed.
• Receives monthly supervision from the Supervisor - Clinical/Licensed.
• Conducts classroom and individual student observations to identify behavior patterns.
• Provides written summaries of observations.
• Supports classroom staff in developing efficient systems for data collection.
• Assists in the development of FBAs.
• Participates in gathering data from Teachers and parents.
• Collaborates with the PBIS team to develop PBSPs that align with FBA findings.
• Provides feedback to staff on progress monitoring.
• Reviews and updates PBSPs as needed.
• Provides in class coaching and modeling for Teachers and staff.
• Assists with professional development in the classroom.
• Supports crisis prevention interventions and strategies.
• Assists with de-escalation during behavioral crisis.
• Participates in debriefings after crisis.
• Serves as a liaison between special education, general education, and related services.
• Participates in IEP meetings.
• Supports in collecting and graphing behavioral data to monitor trends.
• Contributes to quarterly updates and reports on behavioral goals.
