Elementary School (K-8) Learning Specialist Falk School - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26006096) Elementary School (K-8) Learning Specialist Falk Laboratory School, a coeducational K-8 school at the University of Pittsburgh, seeks a full-time educator to work with children who have a range of learning differences. This role begins January 2027. Candidates must have empathy for, and a genuine interest in, developing positive educational experiences for students with learning differences. Among the professional duties of a Falk Learning Specialist are the following: Collaborate with staff members and families to create and implement intervention programs that maximize students' access to the general education content Administer initial screening and diagnostic testing in both reading and mathematics to identify students who could benefit from remedial instruction Develop and teach motivating, engaging lessons that are grounded in best practices, and are appropriate to students' ages, grade levels, and abilities Apply and support accommodations to support instruction Observe, evaluate, and prepare reports on students' progress A Master of Education Degree in the field of special education or a related field is required. Broad experience in a school setting is advantageous as the position involves partnering across disciplines and grade levels. The minimum base salary is $50,000 (10-month contract); credit will be given for years of relevant experience.
