Job Description

We are seeking a full-time ($18/hour with benefits) Community Education Specialist to provide educational programs addressing domestic violence, sexual violence, healthy relationships, prevention, and community safety and professional development to community partners.

Per Hour Position Summary:
The Community Education Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering educational programs that promote awareness and prevention of sexual violence, domestic violence, stalking, and any other related issues. This position serves as a key liaison between A Safe Place, community partners, schools, businesses, healthcare providers, and civic organizations. This position also manages the organization's social media presence to increase community engagement, awareness of services, and prevention messaging. This hybrid position combines remote work with in-person presentations, outreach events, community meetings, and agency activities throughout the service area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Community Education & Prevention
  • Develop and facilitate educational presentations, workshops, and training programs for schools, local higher education, community organizations, businesses, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Implement evidence-informed prevention programs addressing sexual violence, domestic violence, healthy relationships, consent, bystander intervention, and related topics.
  • Coordinate awareness campaigns during designated observances, including but not limited to: Domestic Violence Awareness Month Sexual Assault Awareness Month Teen Dating Violence Month
  • Represent the organization at community events, health fairs, networking meetings, etc.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collect and report program data, attendance records, evaluations, and outcome measures required by funders. Social Media & Digital Communications
  • Manage the organization's social media platforms, including content planning, creation, scheduling, and monitoring.
  • Develop engaging educational content that aligns with the organization's messaging and prevention goals.
  • Create graphics, videos, and digital campaigns to increase public awareness and community engagement.
  • Monitor social media trends to evaluate outreach effectiveness.
  • Respond appropriately to comments, messages, and inquiries while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Collaborate with staff to promote organization services, events, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice across all platforms. Community Outreach & Engagement
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with schools, businesses, healthcare providers, faith communities, and other social service agencies.
  • Coordinate outreach activities targeting underserved and marginalized populations.
  • Participate in community collaborative initiatives addressing violence and prevention services. Other Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with A Safe Place policies and grant contract requirements.
  • Prepare presentations, and educational materials.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development.
  • Complete annual training requirements per grant contract requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned per grant contract requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Associate's degree in education, human services field, marketing, public health, or a related field. Experience may be considered.
  • Experience in public speaking, training, education, outreach or community engagement.
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences and facilitate discussions on sensitive topics.
  • Working knowledge of general computer operations, including Office 365 (Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams) as well as agency email.
  • Valid PA Driver's License, use of personal vehicle, proof of auto insurance, and registration required.
  • Ability to work occasionally in the evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites is required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Successfully completed required Domestic Violence Advocate/Counselor and Sexual Assault Counselor/Advocate Training.
  • Must be able to attain a clear PA Criminal Clearance (ACT 34), PA Child Abuse Clearance (ACT 33), and FBI Clearance.
Pay:
$18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
