• 6A Educational Nurse Coordinator ?

Key Responsibilities Provide expert nursing care to patients on 6A , a General Medicine unit caring for complex adult patients, promoting patient independence, self-management, and family caregiving. Serve as a clinical expert and consultant to nursing staff, offering guidance, support, and role modeling through direct patient care. Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate comprehensive orientation programs for new nursing and assistive personnel, including: Scheduling and oversight of orientation Preceptor assignment, development, and training Coordination of multidisciplinary and interdepartmental orientation experiences Monitoring orientee progress during the first 6 months with ongoing feedback and support Assess ongoing staff educational needs and design, implement, and evaluate educational programs, in-services, and competency-based learning activities to support high-quality patient care. Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Nursing Director, and leadership team to develop, implement, and evaluate unit-based education, professional development, and quality improvement initiatives. Facilitate staff development through individualized and group learning plans, including remediation when needed. Support and ensure completion of unit-based mandatory education and institutional regulatory requirements. Participate in and support quality improvement initiatives, including conducting audits and using data to inform educational priorities and practice changes. Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development support to nursing and assistive personnel. Actively participate in unit, departmental, and hospital-wide committees, councils, and educational initiatives. Maintain accurate documentation related to orientation, competencies, and educational activities in required systems and databases. Fulfill a clinical staffing component (minimum 24 hours per week or as determined by unit needs) to support both patient care and educational integration. Required Qualifications

• Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan Bachelor?s degree in nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience Two or more years of RN experience, with at least two years directly related to the care of adult medical and surgical patients in an acute care inpatient setting Experience as a Charge Nurse, Preceptor, and/or participation in unit

• BSN preferred; MSN preferred Med-Surg Certification (RN-BC, CMSRN) preferred Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice within adult acute care (medical-surgical/general medicine population preferred) Minimum of 2 years of charge nurse experience and preceptor/teaching experience, with evidence of progressive leadership responsibilities; prior Educational Nurse Coordinator (ENC) experience preferred Strong knowledge and application of adult learning principles, with demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate educational programs Proven ability to develop preceptors, facilitate orientation, and support staff development, including remediation when needed Demonstrated experience in quality improvement (QI/CQI) initiatives, including use of data-driven and evidence-based approaches to improve patient outcomes and nursing practice Ability to facilitate change, lead practice improvements, and support initiatives aligned with unit and organizational goals Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including prioritization, delegation, and evaluation of outcomes Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to: Provide clear, constructive feedback Foster collaboration across disciplines and shifts Build positive, professional relationships with 6A nursing and assistive staff Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and support team development, creating an environment of psychological safety, open communication, and continuous learning Proven ability to collaborate with nursing leadership to address clinical and operational challenges Experience participating in or leading unit, departmental, or hospital committees, with a track record of engagement and accountability Proficiency in technology and documentation systems (e.
