Coordinator, K-5 / School Improvement Exempt Status Exempt No. of Days According to district approved calendar Department Teaching and Learning Reports To Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Supervises As Assigned Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with the appropriate teacher certification Master's Degree from accredited college or university preferred Experience Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience Deep knowledge of the subject-area content and research-based instructional strategies/practices Capacity to lead content-area teaching teams for the purpose of improving instruction and student achievement. Position Function/Purpose The K-5 Coordinator provides direction and leadership for the overall administration and coordination of the K-5 curriculum program and ensures the effective implementation of various curriculum resources. The coordinator develops, implements, supports, and monitors the K-5 program and provides leadership for district-wide literacy initiatives.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Ensure that K-5 programs and practices align with district policies, state regulations, and educational standards. 2. Disaggregate, analyze, and report on various sources of formative and summative assessment data. 3. Facilitate PLCs for K-5 teachers to encourage collaboration, share best practices, and address common challenges. 4. Provide on-going professional learning opportunities and support to teachers and leaders on curriculum resources, research, and best practices. 5. Coordinate the selection and procurement of instructional materials, resources, and technology to support K-5 instruction. 6. Design rigorous, aligned K-5 district benchmark assessments and supports test administration. 7. Review and evaluate state and district assessments, and recommend appropriate modifications to the program. 8. Support and oversee work related to the Reading Academy, Spelling Bee, A Plus Academics, and elementary libraries. 9. Offer guidance and support to K-5 teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies and differentiation techniques. 10. Work in conjunction with the Teaching and Learning Department, including Special Services and the Bilingual/ ESL department, and the School Leadership Department to ensure program success. 11. Foster collaboration among K-5 teachers, other content coordinators, and administrators to create a cohesive learning environment. 12. Explore and recommend innovative ways to integrate technology into K-5 instruction, fostering digital literacy skills and engaging learning experiences. 13. Maintain knowledge related to allowable state assessment accommodation decisions that can be made for students with an RTI plan, and collaborate to provide guidance on the development of RTI plans 14. Tailor professional learning sessions to address the diverse needs and experience levels of K-5 teachers, ensuring that content is differentiated to meet varied learning styles and instructional preferences. 15. Assist in organizing and planning all summer learning programs and offered by the district. 16. Attend relevant school, district, and professional meetings. 17. Establish and maintain partnerships with local community organizations, libraries, and literacy advocates to enhance resources and support for K-5 programs. 18. Perform other duties as assigned.
