As a Specialist - Learning & Development Technology & Content Design, you will play a critical role in modernizing how learning is designed, developed and experienced across our operations. This role brings together artificial intelligence, adult learning, digital design and learning technology to create practical, scalable solutions that improve workforce capability and performance. You will identify and apply AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies across the learning lifecycle, from analyzing needs and accelerating content development to personalizing learning, improving access to knowledge and measuring effectiveness. You will ensure these solutions are grounded in approved source content, appropriate governance and human review. Working closely with L&D, operations, subject matter experts, frontline leaders and technology partners, you will translate complex operational requirements into clear, engaging learning experiences that reflect how adults learn and how work is performed. You will also establish reusable standards, templates and approaches that improve the quality, consistency and speed of learning development across the function. This role suits a highly capable and curious technology professional who understands adult learning, communicates exceptionally well and can turn emerging technology into practical business value. You will be part of an integrated and collaborative L&D team focused on improving safety, workforce readiness and operational performance. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Superintendent - Learning & Development, you will: Lead the practical application of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies across L&D, identifying opportunities to improve learning analysis, design, development, delivery, accessibility and evaluation. Design and develop high-quality digital, blended and performance-focused learning experiences using adult learning, instructional design, visual communication and user experience principles. Translate complex operational, technical and business requirements into clear, practical and engaging learning products that support application on the job. Partner closely with subject matter experts, frontline leaders, L&D teams, technology partners and other stakeholders to co-design solutions, challenge assumptions and build alignment. Establish and maintain learning design standards, templates, prompt practices, reusable assets and quality controls that improve consistency, scalability and development speed. Apply appropriate AI governance, approved source content, privacy controls and human review to ensure AI-enabled learning solutions are accurate, responsible and fit for purpose. Use learner feedback, performance data and stakeholder insights to evaluate effectiveness and continuously improve learning products, technologies and processes. Maintain learning content and digital resources so they remain current, accurate, accessible and aligned with operational standards, systems and changes in the work. Scan external trends and test new tools and approaches, translating promising innovations into practical, sustainable solutions for the L&D function. Support strategic L&D initiatives that strengthen Workday Learning, new-hire readiness, capability development, learning quality and measurable operational performance. What You'll Bring To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Advanced, hands-on capability with generative AI and related technologies, including the ability to evaluate tools, design effective prompts and workflows, and turn AI capabilities into practical learning and business solutions. Strong knowledge of adult learning, instructional design and learning experience design, with the ability to create solutions that support understanding, practice, application and sustained behavior change. Experience designing high-quality digital, blended and technology-enabled learning for operational, industrial, technical or similarly complex environments. Exceptional written, verbal, visual and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and tailor messages for frontline employees, technical experts and leaders. Outstanding collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, including the confidence to facilitate discovery, ask effective questions, challenge constructively and build shared ownership of solutions. Strong digital design capability and sound judgment in visual communication, storytelling, usability and learner experience. Experience working with learning management systems, digital learning platforms, content authoring tools, multimedia applications or other L&D technologies. The ability to work across multiple priorities, move from concept to implementation and deliver high-quality outcomes in a changing operational environment. Strong critical thinking, curiosity and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to experiment, learn quickly and continuously improve. High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to content accuracy, quality assurance, governance and responsible use of technology. A commitment to safety, operational excellence and using learning technology to improve workforce capability and performance. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience designing and implementing AI-enabled learning, knowledge, content or productivity solutions in a business environment. A portfolio or examples showing high-quality digital learning, multimedia, visual design, AI-enabled solutions or other technology-supported learning products. Experience applying adult learning, instructional design, human-centered design or user experience principles to frontline or technical workforce development. Experience with generative AI platforms, prompt engineering, workflow automation, AI-supported multimedia tools or conversational learning technologies. Experience developing eLearning, simulations, video, performance support, blended learning or learning-in-the-flow-of-work solutions. Experience with Learning Management Systems, authoring tools, digital adoption platforms, learning analytics or enterprise content platforms. Relevant tertiary qualifications or certifications in Adult Education, Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Learning Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Design, Communications or a related field.
