Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of CCJA's EMT Program, to include the development, coordination, and delivery of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) education and continuous professional development of EMS personnel. Reports to the CCJA Training Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the
CCJA EMT
Program, ensuring compliance with Virginia EMS agency accrediting bodies, and national standards. Establishes and maintains EMS education schedules, recertification requirements, and training programs. Develops, reviews, and updates curricula, lesson plans, and instructional materials for EMT training programs. Develops education goals, policies and procedures to enhance EMS education. Assists with preparing reports on issues involving EMS delivery, Quality Improvement, and Quality Assurance. Works with the Medical Director on individual approvals for release to EMT. Provides classroom lectures, labs, simulations, and scenario-based training for EMS providers at EMT certification level. Mentor's students and preceptors; assesses student performance and provides remediation when needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Emergency Medical Services
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pre-hospital emergency medical procedures, techniques, methods, medication, equipment, and first aid.
Incident Management and supervisory practices relating to the emergency response principles and the provision of emergency medical care. Comprehensive knowledge of EMS and departmental standard operating procedures, practices, requirements and regulations; knowledge of EMS service and applicable laws, liability, and legal issues. Knowledge of accrediting agencies (OEMS) and national standards. Safety/Security
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety rules, regulations, procedures and practices as outlined in the CCJA directives. Maintains situational awareness and ensures operational resource management. Knowledge of OSHA requirements. Customer Service
  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services.
This includes setting and meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Biology, EMS, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, and or five (5) years of progressive EMS field experience with at least two (2) years in an educational role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires an acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must possess certifications as an EMT
  • Paramedic, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
Must obtain and maintain certifications as an instructor in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS within 6 months of employment in this position, and a Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services Education Coordinator certification within 1 month of employment in this position. Must not have any EMS compliance enforcement actions within the previous five years.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires the ability to exert light physical effort in mobile work. Some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavy objects and materials of weight (up to 50 pounds).
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, weather, fumes, smoke, temperature and noise extremes, traffic hazards, or rude/irate persons. PAYMENT Pay is based on experience. This is a 1099 Contractor position.
