General Statement of Duties Henrico County Public Schools' Advanced Career Education (ACE) programs prepare students for careers in both the public and private sectors through high-quality instruction, hands-on learning experiences, and apprenticeship opportunities across a wide range of building trades, first responder, and healthcare fields. These programs equip students with essential workforce-ready skills while also providing pathways to industry-recognized licenses and certifications upon successful completion. Graduates leave ACE programs prepared for immediate entry into the workforce, continued technical training, or further postsecondary education. The successful candidate is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and learning experiences that promote student achievement, critical thinking, and career readiness. The instructor will foster an engaging, inclusive, and safe learning environment while ensuring instruction is aligned with state standards, curriculum frameworks, and school division goals. Key responsibilities include planning and delivering effective lessons, monitoring and assessing student progress, providing timely and meaningful feedback, and collaborating with colleagues, families, and community partners to support student success. Essential Duties Career & Technical Education Duties and Expectations Plans, delivers, and assesses instruction using a competency‑based education model. Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of curriculum, instructional practices, and industry trends. Maintains a working knowledge of current industry safety standards and ensures their incorporation into instruction. Supports and promotes student participation in internships and apprenticeships with local employers. Essential Daily Duties Implement differentiated instruction, accommodations, and modifications to support all learners and promote academic success. Integrate technology and innovative instructional practices to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior and learning while fostering a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Manage classroom routines and procedures to ensure safety, orderliness, and maximize instructional time. Communicate regularly and professionally with students, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders to support student achievement. Collaborate with special education staff, counselors, support personnel, and instructional teams to address student needs and support school initiatives. Participate in department meetings, team planning, professional development activities, and other opportunities to enhance instructional practice. Maintain accurate and timely records, including grades, attendance, assessments, and required documentation. Attend work regularly, fulfill assigned responsibilities, uphold all school and district policies, and maintain professional and ethical standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Regular attendance is required Additional Information This is a 11-month (239-day) position with a contractual start date of July 30, 2026. Salary will be prorated based on the official start date. Minimum Requirements Holds a valid Virginia Technical Professional teaching license with an endorsement in the assigned content area(s), or is eligible for a Provisional Technical Professional license through demonstrated experience, trade competency and relevant industry certifications. Demonstrates the ability to plan and organize instruction, design and integrate curriculum, manage classrooms effectively, communicate clearly, build positive human relations, and apply critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear. Ability to lift or move instructional materials up to 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to monitor students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, and school grounds.
