Job Description
- Write clear, engaging, pedagogically sound instructional scripts for middle school mathematics.
- Translate complex concepts into student-friendly explanations, worked examples, and real-world contexts.
- Build step-by-step learning sequences that move students from conceptual understanding to mastery.
- Anticipate common misconceptions and build in the right scaffolding and instructional supports.
- Direct how each concept is represented visually — diagrams, models, graphs, tables, equations, animations.
- Review PPT decks for mathematical accuracy, instructional clarity, grade-level fit, and alignment to the approved script.
- Align content to learning objectives, scope and sequence, and relevant U.S. mathematics standards.
- Self-review and peer-review content, give actionable feedback, and revise based on internal reviews.
- Collaborate with Script, PPT, Problem, Video, and Curriculum teams so every piece fits together.
- Plan weekly deliverables to hit production schedules without sacrificing quality. What We're Looking For
- 5+ years teaching middle school mathematics, preferably Grades 7-8.
- Strong command of middle school math: number systems, ratios and proportional reasoning, expressions and equations, geometry, statistics and probability, and introductory algebra.
- Experience developing curriculum, lesson plans, scripts, presentations, or other instructional materials.
- Strong understanding of math pedagogy, scaffolding, student misconceptions, and conceptual development.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines in a collaborative production environment.
- Willingness and ability to work onsite in Shanghai, China for approximately 1-2 years. Preferred
- Master's degree in Mathematics Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Instructional Design, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 3+ years in curriculum development, instructional design, educational publishing, or EdTech.
- Experience writing or reviewing instructional scripts and PowerPoint-based educational content.
- Familiarity with Common Core State Standards or other U.S. middle school math standards.
- Experience with adaptive, personalized, or AI-enabled learning products.
- Experience designing instruction for video-based or digital learning.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing other curriculum writers.
- Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive instructional design. Compensation & Benefits The Shanghai assignment package is expected to include:
- Company-arranged accommodation in Shanghai for the assignment.
- Living allowance or reimbursement for reasonable meals and local transportation.
- Two round-trip economy flights between the U.S. and China (initial relocation/final return plus one home-leave trip).
- One company-sponsored personal travel period within China each year (approximately 7-10 days), per company policy.

Pay:
