The ideal candidate will create a fun, inclusive, and highly engaging environment using rotating fitness stations, cooperative games, obstacle courses, movement challenges, relays, and team-building activities. This is not a traditional exercise class. Activities should feel playful and exciting while helping students build coordination, confidence, endurance, and healthy movement habits. Responsibilities Lead safe, interactive, and age-appropriate fitness sessions. Design rotating activity stations focused on balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, and endurance. Incorporate movement games, obstacle courses, relays, dance, sports fundamentals, and team challenges. Create activities that keep students active and reduce long periods of waiting. Modify activities for students of different ages, abilities, and comfort levels. Encourage teamwork, communication, good sportsmanship, and healthy competition. Demonstrate activities and provide clear safety instructions. Maintain an inclusive environment where every student feels comfortable participating. Manage equipment, activity transitions, and student behavior effectively. Follow the EYL workshop structure, including an SEL check-in, warm-up, station-based activity, and reflection. Submit required lesson plans, attendance records, and program recaps.- Communicate professionally with EYL 365 Project staff, school staff, students, and families. Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled sessions. Qualifications At least two years of experience leading youth fitness, physical education, recreation, sports, dance, or movement programming. Experience working with elementary-aged students in grades K-5. Experience designing play-based, station-style fitness activities. Knowledge of safe and developmentally appropriate movement practices.- Strong group-management, communication, and youth-engagement skills. Ability to maintain a structured environment while keeping activities fun and energetic. Must be dependable, adaptable, encouraging, and enthusiastic. Must be available at least three consistent weekdays during after-school hours. Must be able to commit to the duration of the assigned program. Must complete all required background checks and school clearances. Preferred Qualifications Degree, certification, or coursework in physical education, exercise science, recreation, kinesiology, dance, or a related field. CPR and First Aid certification. Previous experience working in a school, camp, recreation center, or after-school program.
