Part-Time / Non-Exempt Position Summary The Dance Instructor - Popular Styles is a high-energy, engaging professional who leads fun, age-appropriate dance classes focused on popular and contemporary dance styles that resonate with youth. This instructor brings excitement, creativity, and confidence to participants through movement, rhythm, and performance-based choreography. This role complements our existing classical dance instruction by offering an upbeat, accessible dance experience that encourages self-expression, teamwork, and a love for movement. Key Responsibilities Program Delivery

• Plan and facilitate engaging dance classes featuring popular and contemporary styles such as hip-hop, jazz-funk, pop dance, and freestyle
• Teach age-appropriate choreography that emphasizes rhythm, coordination, musicality, and performance
• Adapt lessons to meet the needs of different age groups and skill levels (elementary and middle school)
• Rotate dance styles and music selections to reflect youth interests while maintaining structure and consistency
• Create a positive, inclusive environment where all participants feel comfortable and confident Youth Engagement
• Build strong relationships with members through encouragement, enthusiasm, and consistency
• Promote confidence, teamwork, and self-expression through group routines and collaborative movement
• Support participants of varying abilities, including those new to dance
• Maintain high levels of engagement through energetic instruction and positive classroom management Performances & Events
• Prepare students for performances, showcases, family events, and special Club programs
• Collaborate with Program Directors and staff to support Club-wide events and celebrations
• Assist with choreography or movement components for special events when requested Safety & Professionalism
• Ensure all instruction is safe, age-appropriate, and aligned with program guidelines
• Maintain appropriate boundaries in music selection, choreography, and interactions
• Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and expectations
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and program staff Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching dance or movement-based classes to children or youth
• Background in one or more popular or contemporary dance styles, including: o Hip-hop o Jazz-funk o Pop or commercial dance o Freestyle or fusion styles
• High-energy personality with the ability to connect with youth
• Ability to adapt choreography for different ages, abilities, and group sizes
• Strong classroom management skills in a group setting
• Experience in after-school programs, camps, or youth organizations preferred Disclaimer
