at City of Pocatello in Pocatello, Idaho, United States Job Description The Parks and Recreation Community Programs Worker provide customer service, program instruction, education, and guidance to various patrons. This position requires applicants to be 16 years of age or older. The job may require successful completion of a background check. The job requires the ability to maintain a collaborative and cooperative working relationship with elected and appointed officials, other City employees, other organizations, and the general public. The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, in wet and humid conditions, with areas of dust, odors, mist, gases or other airborne matter. Employees work in/at places where they are exposed to mechanical hazards. This position works days, evenings, and weekends as required. •Placement on the pay scale and associated steps relate directly to experience with the City of Pocatello.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides instruction of adult and/or youth group fitness and dance classes. Ares of instruction may include yoga, step aerobics, pool exercise, strength training, Pilates, Pound™, Zumba™, Insanity™ and other types of dance formats, as well as basic tumbling/gymnastic classes. Instructors must demonstrate proper techniques and methods for participants, observe participants, and inform them of corrective measures. Certification as an instructor and/or trainer in fitness area taught by a nationally recognized organization is preferred and 3-5 years' experience is required. Current CPR certification also required. Instructors teaching a trademark and/or franchise type class (Zumba, Pound, Insanity) must hold a current License with that corporation. Basic First Aid certification may be required. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, climb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spaces. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required.
