Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a Dance / Fitness Instructor to lead upbeat, welcoming classes for adult women in our shelters who are experiencing homelessness and crisis. This role is not about performance or perfection—it's about helping women get moving, feel better in their bodies, reconnect with themselves, and have fun. The ideal candidate is engaging, encouraging, fun, and able to meet participants where they are—no prior dance experience required for participants. If you can create a space where people feel comfortable, supported, and even laugh a little, you'll be a great fit. About Us Lake County Haven (LCH) is a nonprofit organization supporting women and children experiencing homelessness as they rebuild their lives. Through shelter, transitional housing, and our Day Program, we focus on recovery, mental health, stability, and independence. We believe in the power of movement, connection, and joy—and we're looking for a Dance Instructor who brings energy, warmth, and a sense of fun. Schedule Three days per week Two hours per day Each day includes teaching two classes, one at each shelter Key Responsibilities Lead fun, accessible dance/movement classes for adult women of all ability levels Create a positive, inclusive, and low-pressure environment Encourage participation, confidence, and self-expression through movement Adapt instruction to meet varying physical abilities and comfort levels Focus on enjoyment, wellness, and connection—not technical perfection Track attendance and communicate with program staff as needed Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive class setting Qualifications Experience teaching dance, fitness, or movement-based classes Comfortable working with adults from diverse backgrounds and life experiences Energetic, approachable, and able to engage a group in a fun and supportive way Strong communication and interpersonal skills Reliable and consistent Able to uphold confidentiality standards Compensation Competitive hourly rate based on experience Why Join Us?
