POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The YMCA of Kokomo is seeking part-time Adventure Course Instructors who are enthusiastic, energetic, and compassionate with a strong desire to positively impact the lives of children and adults. Under the supervision of the Camp Directors, the Adventure Course Instructor leads fun, challenging activities for school-age children through adults who are participating in Camp Tycony's Adventure Park.OUR CULTURE

1. Effectively engages with participants of all ages and provides sound supervision, this includes low ropes, ground course, and high ropes. 2. Provide Adventure Course participants with approved safety orientations and instruction in accordance with YMCA of Kokomo policies and procedures, and training received through an approved and accredited provider. 3. Implements curriculum and facilitates growth-oriented programming within the established guidelines. 4. Nurtures participants through purposeful programming dedicated to building individuals and teams utilizing the challenge by choice principles. 5. Supervises Adventure Course Participants, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards, including safety and cleanliness standards. 6. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations (including pre and post participation surveys). 7. Cultivates positive relationships, and maintains effective communication with parents and participants. 8. Attends all mandatory staff meetings and trainings, including child abuse prevention.The Y:
We're for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. 9. Maintains required program records, including but not limited to: a. Conduct and log, course pre-operation inspections b. Report and log all accidents and near misses c. Conduct and log equipment inspections 10. Ensure all participants meet eligibility standards and have signed waivers prior to participation. 11. Maintain adventure course grounds. 12. Clean and properly store adventure course gear. 13. Performs other duties as assigned.YMCA COMPETENCIES

1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. At least 18 years of age. 3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Praesidium Academy Child Abuse Prevention and Bloodborne Pathogens training provided by the YMCA of Kokomo. 4. Level One Challenge Course Operation Certification preferred. If not currently held, certification must be obtained within a designated timeframe after hire as a condition of continued employment as an Adventure Course Facilitator. The YMCA of Kokomo will cover the cost of certification, which must be completed through an approved and accredited provider designated by the YMCA of Kokomo. 5. Reliable transportation to attend work. 6. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate day camp activities 7. Good communication and organizational skills. 8. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and Praesidium background check. 9. Positive, service-oriented attitude serving diverse groups of people in regard to age, abilities, ethnicity, gender, race, economic status, religion, etc. 10. Team player willing to contribute to the culture, mission, and values of theYMCA. 11.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. Must be able to identify colors. 6. Must be able to hear in the instance of a critical incident. 7. Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities. 8. Outdoor, wooded setting.Job Types:
