Classical Ballet Teacher Description:
José Mateo Ballet Theatre seeks classical ballet teachers for the Young Dancers Program, Summer Intensive Program, Summer Elementary Program, and Adult Open Class Program. Teachers will have the opportunity to work with amunity of dedicated students and faculty. Located at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Uphams Corner, our Dorchester studio supports a growing number of young ballet dancers. Uphams Corner has recently been designated as an Arts and Innovation District by the City of Boston and José Mateo Ballet Theatre is very excited to be a part of themunity and its future. The mission of José Mateo Ballet Theatre is to: Create new ballets of excellence that are stimulating and culturally relevant to diverse audiences Create an innovative approach to ballet training that wees diversity and ensures unanimous participation and achievement by all students Create sustainable, inclusive and engaging outreach programs that make ballet accessible to participants of all racial, cultural and economic backgrounds Reposition the role of dance in our culture and expand its purpose in the education of youth and enrichment ofmunity locally and beyond In keeping with this mission, we would like to be able to offer equitable ballet education to both locations. We would like new members of our faculty to be able to teach at either location depending on our needs. Candidates should have a passion for ballet and the impact that it can have on students of all backgrounds and abilities. In addition to regular teaching, t may be opportunities to engage ourmunities through Ballet Story Times, partnerships with local schools, and other events.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a classical ballet education and several years of teaching experience.
