Cambridge Center for Adult Education (CCAE), located in Harvard Square, is seeking a skilled and passionate sewing instructor to teach Basic Sewing Level 1, and Basic Sewing Level 2 to a group of up to 8 students during the summer term which runs from early June 16 - September 4, with the potential to continue into further terms. The ideal candidate has experience teaching beginner-level sewing and is available to teach in person on weekday evenings and/or weekends. CCAE provides a dedicated sewing studio, and students are encouraged to bring their own machines. The hourly rate begins at $25+/hr,mensurate with experience. Instructors can also take one free class per term (up to $300). CCAE is one of the most wide-ranging and innovativemunities of adult learners in the country. CCAE provides affordable education to all members of themunity and is a weing placemitted to experiential, lifelong, face-to-face learning that is distinguished by students and faculty of different racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, religious, and economic backgrounds. CCAE has been a home to curious people pursuing knowledge for 150 years and prides itself on being a place to grow, create and thrive. CCAE is currently offering both in-person and online classes.Qualifications:
Prior teaching experience, preferably with adult learners Ability to engage and support a diversemunity of students Reliable, punctual, and able tomit to a consistent class schedule Strong sewing experience, with a portfolio demonstrating a range of styles and skill levels Excellentmunication skills, with the ability to clearly explain techniques to beginners Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs and skill levels Knowledge of different sewing tools, sewing machines, and their uses Amitment to maintaining a respectful and inclusive learning environmentSimilar remote jobs
