$50.00 to $62.00
Job Description:
The team is seeking a Scientist III - Cellular Biology and Automation to support research activities in Cellular Biology and Automation focused on neurological disease drug discovery. The successful candidate will design and perform both routine and complex cell culture work using manual and automated methods to develop iPSC-derived cellular models and prepare materials for in vitro research studies. The role includes responsibilities involving microfluidic cell cloning, CRISPR, cell line generation, protein analysis, and laboratory automation using advanced robotic platforms. The candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with multidisciplinary research teams and contribute to identifying and evaluating new technologies and methodologies to improve workflows and support drug discovery initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Perform scale-up and maintenance of cultured cells using automated and manual techniques. Maintain immortalized cell lines and support complex cell culture activities. Track, distribute, and manage fresh and cryopreserved cell resources. Adapt cell culture workflows to laboratory automation systems. Collaborate with internal research teams across multiple sites to support drug discovery programs. Support development of iPSC differentiation methods for neurological disease models. Derive and characterize CRISPR knockout pools and clones. Maintain cell line inventory systems and laboratory documentation. Monitor emerging technologies and implement improvements in automation and cell culture methodologies. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, SOPs, and corporate guidelines. Support protein characterization, ICC, transfection/transduction, and molecular biology workflows.
Required Qualifications:
BS or MS in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience. No PHD Candidates. Experience with cellular models for drug discovery, including neural or microglial models preferred. Experience with primary cells, iPSC models, immortalized cell culture, and complex cellular systems. Strong expertise in cell biology and assay development. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary scientific teams. Strong understanding of laboratory operations, workflow management, and documentation practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with automated cell culture robotic hardware/software, particularly Sartorius CompacT SelecT. Experience with CRISPR, microfluidics, cell cloning, and cell line generation. Experience with molecular biology techniques, protein characterization, ICC, and mammalian cell transfection/transduction. Industrial drug discovery experience involving biologics or small molecule identification and target validation. Interest or experience in software and hardware engineering related to laboratory automation.
