YMCA Ninja Warrior Instructor Position Summary The YMCA is seeking an energetic, engaging, and safety-conscious Ninja Warrior Instructor to lead action-packed, movement-based classes for youth ages 4-12. This role focuses on developing strength, agility, balance, and confidence through obstacle course training in a supportive, community-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities Class Instruction:
Plan and lead high-energy, structured 45-minute classes throughout the week tailored to specific age brackets (e.g., ages 4-6, 7-12).
Skill Development:
Follow the provided curriculum and teach age-appropriate obstacle techniques, including climbing, vaulting, swinging, jumping, and balance maneuvers, while adapting progressions for varied skill levels. Provide feedback and modifications to curriculum when appropriate.
Birthday Party Facilitation:
Facilitate activities and games for birthday parties when assigned and monitor safety for participants. Generate interest for classes and lead class-like instruction when it s requested for a party.
Safety & Equipment:
Set up, inspect, and reset obstacle equipment before and after each class. Maintain strict safety standards and actively spot participants to prevent injuries.
Youth Mentorship:
Emphasize character development, sportsmanship, and perseverance in alignment with core YMCA values (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility).
Member Service:
Provide excellent member service and engage in active listening to build authentic relationships with participants and families
Communication:
Engage directly with parents and guardians to share participant progress, answer questions, and build positive relationships.
Administrative Support:
Track class attendance, monitor equipment condition, and report any maintenance needs to the Program Director.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth in ninja, parkour, gymnastics, martial arts, youth fitness, or athletics instruction. Preference for experience in ninja instruction.
Skills:
Strong communication skills, high energy, patience, and a physical capability to demonstrate movements and safely spot participants. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals from all backgrounds.
Availability:
Flexible schedule, including weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends. Required Provided Trainings Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification Provided child safety trainings Work Environment & Physical Demands Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs to move mats and obstacle equipment. Ability to demonstrate physical movements, stand for long periods, and actively move around the gym floor.
