This role focuses on teaching technique, choreography, and movement skills in a fun, inclusive, and structured environment. The instructor will cultivate a positive learning atmosphere, encourage artistic expression, and support participants' confidence and physical well-being. We lead with faith . Essential Functions Plan and lead structured dance classes in styles such as ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap, or other dance genres. Provide individualized instruction and feedback to support participants of all skill levels. Create choreography for performances, showcases, or seasonal recitals. Ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants. Demonstrate and model proper dance techniques, posture, and movements. Monitor and assess student progress, adapting instruction as needed to enhance skill development Encourage self-expression and confidence-building through dance. Maintain studio/classroom space, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and safety. Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and YMCA staff regarding schedules, progress, and program updates. Support the YMCA mission and values, fostering a sense of community and inclusion. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by leadership Qualifications Required Qualifications Experience in dance instruction, performance, or choreography in one or more styles. Strong knowledge of movement principles, technique, and injury prevention. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse participants. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students and families. Must be at least 16 years of age at time of application. Positive, energetic, and creative teaching approach. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed. All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. Preferred Qualifications Background in teaching dance to youth and/or adults in a structured setting preferred. Degree in Dance, Performing Arts, or related field preferred. Working Conditions Indoor studio or gym environment, requiring frequent movement, dancing, and physical activity. May include lifting, stretching, and assisting students with movements. Occasional evening and weekend commitments for performances or special events. Exposure to music and sound systems for extended periods. Fast-paced, engaging work environment, requiring adaptability and enthusiasm. Competencies
