Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and passionate Dance Instructor to inspire students of all ages to discover the joy of movement and self-expression through dance. In this role, you will teach a variety of styles, and foster a positive learning environment that encourages creativity, discipline, and confidence. Whether working with children or teens, you will bring enthusiasm and expertise to every class, helping students achieve their personal goals while developing their technical skills. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to share your love of dance and contribute to a vibrant community of learners. We are located in Central NY (4 hours from NYC) and expect the candidate to reside within an hour of the studio since this is a position for classes that are weekly throughout the year. Duties Develop comprehensive dance curricula tailored to different age groups and skill levels, incorporating techniques such as ballet, theater dance, and other styles. Lead dynamic group classes and individual lessons that motivate students to improve their technique and express themselves through movement. Manage classroom behavior effectively by implementing positive behavior management strategies and creating a safe, inclusive environment. Plan engaging lesson plans that incorporate elements of choreography, performance preparation, and cultural context. Support students' development by providing constructive feedback, encouragement, and personalized tutoring when needed. Maintain accurate attendance records, progress reports, and safety protocols to ensure a well-organized learning experience. Skills Previous dance instruction experience and ability to foster discipline while nurturing creativity and enjoyment. Experience/training in multiple dance genres a plus. Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices. Ability to create engaging lesson plans that incorporate choreography, movement exercises, and performance techniques.
