JOB SUMMARY A

Teaching Professional/Coach gives lessons on the game to beginning and accomplished players by explaining and demonstrating numerous aspects of how to play to their pupils. The Teaching Professional/Coach will also need to be able to teach and demonstrate golf skills to other teaching staff. Teaching Professional/Coach will also support faculty and students in tournaments and other golf learning experiences. Teaching Professional/Coach will be responsible to help other Teaching Professionals to understand the golf swing, teach and communicate to their students. Teaching Professional/Coach will provide student support as a daily function of the job which is anything from helping at housing to transportation of students to any function requested by the CEO or Head Coach. SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Previous managerial experience and knowledge of how to set objectives, and perform employee reviews is necessary Knowledge of the business operations must be at a level where Teaching Professional/Coach can fill in for the Head Coach if necessary. Be able to Break 40 for 9 holes and 80 for 18 holes. Knowledge of golf course management and operation practices and procedures. Professional knowledge of the standards and techniques of playing and teaching golf and of golf terminology, "Rules of Golf" and etiquette. Knowledge of golf-related concessions, equipment merchandising, maintenance of course and related facilities. Knowledge of equipment necessary to maintain and efficiently play a golf course. Knowledge of office procedures, methods and equipment with particular reference to receiving and accounting for the receipt of cash or credit cards. Ability to give golf instruction to the general public, individuals and groups. Ability to enforce golf course and facilities rules and regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially. Ability to give oral and written instructions and to supervise subordinates in golf course and facilities operations. Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Must possess a high degree of patience, considering the position may be instructing players who have never before picked up a golf club. The employee must possess the ability and knowledge to function as a business person. Knowledge of MS Office is required (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Trackman, GC Quad and V1 Coaching System. The employee must also be friendly, able to communicate in a positive way, and able to work with minimum supervision. Being able to multitask is critical in this position. As the front line image of the business, the employee needs to have knowledge on how to support and motivate students, guests and employees to better performance by knowing how to implement all of the duties of the position. Some basic knowledge of the publishing business would be helpful.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience as a golf instructor and experience in operating a business at a supervisory level is desired. Possession of, or working towards a valid membership and apprentice designation in the Professional Golfers Association of America required. Work toward Class A certification is desired. The employee must be able to pass a criminal background investigation, pass a drug and alcohol test, and be able to speak articulately. As a person entrusted with monies and other assets, the employee needs to have some experience with being responsible for handling valuable items and how to be responsible for building management This position requires someone with a moderate level of accounting and administrative knowledge to support income generation and management. A hospitality background would be desirable, but not necessary. Being able to speak Spanish (or another language) is a plus, but not required.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

The employee is required to support his/her students by supporting all of the different functions/duties of the position and be able to manage their business responsibilities as necessary to meet the objectives of the organization. The employee is responsible for performing all of the job duties and will be evaluated on the effectiveness of supporting each of these duties and responsibilities. Being able to participate in organizational meetings and events is critical. The employee is required to meet a 90-day probationary period and must meet a set of goals and objectives established for this position by his/her supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must maintain a professional appearance, being well groomed and cleanly shaven, be courteous and able to either sit or stand for long hours. Physical effort is limited and mental effort requires the employee to concentrate and pleasantly interact with authorized guests, homeowners, and contractors. An employee might be required to climb steps, work with heavy equipment, and use various types of golf equipment as a part of their job duties to support their students. The employee may be required to lift objects weighing more than 25 pounds. Intermittently sitting, standing, stooping and walking is required.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The employee is expected to work early-morning hours and spend a lot of time on their feet. They must also be in good physical condition, both to do their jobs and to set an example for staff and players. They are also expected to work weekends and holidays when necessary. The one overriding benefit to being a Teaching Professional is the environment: working under sunny skies at a golf facility around people who are enjoying themselves can be an ideal atmosphere. The employee might be required to work up to and after storm or natural disaster events depending on need, approval of police authorities, and ability to make it into work. Senior management and outside law enforcement agencies will determine the appropriate response and access to the property. JPGA's offices and worksites are smoke-free work environments. Smoking is allowed in designated areas at designated times determined by senior management.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED

The position requires at least one set of golf clubs to be used in both teaching and playing. Other training tools will be provided by the organization, but the employee will be required to know how to use these tools, where and when you should use them, and how to be safe with them.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Teaching Professional/Coach will work very closely with each instructor on a daily basis as a team and put together a plan for each student that fits their individual needs for maximum future growth. This plan will include the proper balance between competitive playing, on course practice, and technical improvement on the practice tee and short game area. It is also the instructor's duty to see to it that each student is spending their time wisely. This should be accomplished by making sure that each student has a clear idea of what they need to work on as well as exactly how to practice in a way that produces maximum results. The instructor should be very well organized and creative in order for the student to stay challenged and focused. The Teaching Professional/Coach will help manage activities which include monthly progress reports to include a swing comparison with voice-over and written evaluation. Progress reports will be due on or before the end of each month beginning September and ending with the final progress report in May. Assist in range set up, make sure the range is properly set up on a daily basis, if needed. JPGA tent, lie boards, den caddies, stackers, mirror and any other necessary teaching aids. Support the instructors and course/range workers on any maintenance issue; making sure reports to CEO on any concerns or questions are delivered. Adhere to range and practice green cutting schedule. Help provide the students an adequate supply of sand on the front and back of the range to have students fill divots on a daily basis. Keep proper order of the cleanliness of the grounds. Help manage daily and weekly training schedules for assigned students, maintain an up to date training log for each assigned student, make sure that each student is managing their time efficiently for maximum performance be an expert at videotaping and voiceovers, write progress reports to parents and CEO the end of 1st Semester and 2 nd Semester, communicate with CEO/Head Coach on a daily basis about current events, assist and perform if necessary set up and break down practice range and short game area, follow prescribed teaching plan for each student, become and stay very well informed of the technical aspects of each student's full swings, short game, and putting strokes, study the teaching methods and philosophies of other noted instructors, be proactive and communicate with other instructors and students. Attend staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled. Have a passion to grow as a coach, teacher and player. Be able to make group presentations on assigned topics and be able to demonstrate and teach students aspects of the game that include stance, balance, mechanics on swings, putting and which club to use in certain situations. Must be able to instruct a wide range of age groups of male and female players, offering one-on-one instruction, group instruction and other types of student support as necessary Manages a "Teach the Teacher" program for other instructors that have less experience or knowledge Teaching Professional/Coach will monitor a player's performance from before a teaching session to after the session to gauge areas that need improvement, monitor the changes, and support any changes in the golf swing/course management that would be necessary for the improvement of the student's golf game. Teaching Professional/Coach will also monitor other teaching professional's performance and be able to provide positive feedback and reinforcement when necessary. A Teaching Professional/Coach must be analytical and an expert communicator, since they have to explain the rules and other unwritten guidelines surrounding what is often referred to as "a gentleman's game.

Attends to students' and employee personal safety by being aware of student location, being aware of and attentive to any issues that might arise. Facilitates student leisure and recreational activities by teaching students to make leisure activity choices, planning for and leading students on educational, tournament or recreational trips and/or activities, Establishes and maintains a developmentally appropriate behavior management system by managing student behavior in the home, JPGA community, and public, collaborating with students in developing student rules and regulations, holding students accountable by delivering natural and logical consequences and using corrective teaching, utilizing a consistent incentive system that reinforces and rewards student appropriate behavior, Responsible for maintaining OSHA, first aid and universal precaution guidelines and procedures.
