Position Description Texas Ballet Theater (TBT) seeks to fill the position of Adaptive Dance Instructor for Richardson and/or Fort Worth for the school year . This individual will instruct classes in TBT's Richardson and/or Fort Worth schools. TBT employs adaptive dance instructors to be enthusiastic ambassadors for the art form and professional representatives of the organization. Our Adaptive Dance program introduces ballet and dance to young students across the Dallas- Fort Worth Metroplex, primarily 8-12 year olds diagnosed with Down syndrome, autism or similar diagnoses. This program is done in collaboration with Children's Health in Richardson and
UTSW HSC
in Fort Worth. Instructor must have access to reliable transportation. Adaptive Dance Instructors report to the Educational Programs Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Consistent availability on Saturdays o
Richardson:
Saturdays from 9:15-10:15 am oFort Worth:
Saturdays from 1:15-2:15 pm o Occasional Sundays each semester to help with Adaptive Dance Experience (2-hour events often held in the afternoon)- Ability to teach at either Texas Ballet Theater School's Fort Worth or Richardson locations.
- Follow adaptive dance curriculum to teach beginning ballet and creative movement to 8-12-year-olds.
- Attend all scheduled teacher meetings as requested.
- Provide positive and healthy support for students, as a leader and a mentor.
- Maintain a positive, disciplined environment for the students during their ballet class.
- Willingness to continue education and training in order to better assist and provide access to this population.
- Willingness to support and provide guidance to volunteer PT and OT.
