Overview We are seeking an energetic and passionate Dance Instructor dedicated to inspiring children aged 2 to 12 through the joy of movement, music, and creative arts. In this role, you will teach engaging dance programs that foster confidence, coordination, and artistic expression in young learners. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help cultivate a love for dance and performing arts while supporting their developmental growth. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on children's lives through dynamic instruction and creative exploration. This position is located at various on-site class locations, and is not in a traditional dance studio. Duties Develop age-appropriate dance curricula that incorporate various styles such as ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary dance. Lead lively, motivating dance classes that encourage participation, creativity, and self-expression among children. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, inclusive, and fun learning environment. Incorporate elements of choreography, musical instruments, theater experience, and visual arts into lessons to enhance artistic development. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and developmental stages of children. Support students' progress by providing constructive feedback and celebrating their achievements. Collaborate with parents and guardians to communicate student progress and foster a supportive community for young dancers. Required Skills Proven experience working with children in educational or extracurricular settings, especially in youth programs or preschool environments. Demonstrated experience in dance and dance education. Strong background in teaching arts such as dance, theater, music, or visual arts; familiarity with choreography is highly desirable. Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management strategies for young learners. Skills in curriculum development tailored for children ages 2 to 12 that promote creativity and physical activity. Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively while maintaining a lively and positive atmosphere. Experience with teaching instrumental performance, ballet, or other specialized dance forms is a plus. Certifications or training related to childcare, preschool education, or arts instruction are advantageous. Additional Requirements Ability to travel to private educational institutions in the Northern Virginia area for classes. This position is not in a traditional dance studio.
