Summary:

Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Department of Dance

+ Choreography is recruiting a pool of applicants on an ongoing basis for possible adjunct teaching positions. The Department of Dance

+ Choreography will consult the adjunct applicant pool and contact qualified applicants whose credentials match our specific teaching needs on an as-needed basis. This pool will only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity arises. Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by the Department of Dance

//bulletin.vcu.edu/azcourses/danz/. If an opportunity becomes available, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Adjunct faculty are expected to be enthusiastic ambassadors for the Department of Dance + Choreography and have a desire to work with astudent population fromall backgrounds and experiencesin a collaborative and learning-centered community of other adjunct instructors, students, faculty and staff. Required Qualifications

  • Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in one or more areas of expertise in Ballet, Modern, Hip Hop, Ballroom, Yoga, Screen Dance, Composition, Choreography and other relevant areas. Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Dance, Choreography, or a related field, or BFA with equivalent professional experience and training that equates to a terminal degree in the field.
  • Willingness to teach in both in-person and online formats.
  • Willingness to recruit as needed, assist with semesterly assessments, and help support the Dance and Choreography department's vision and student growth. Application materials should include the following:
