Job Description

About the Role Mathnasium is a math-only supplementary learning center that teaches kids math in a way that makes sense to them. Using the proprietary Mathnasium Method, we build customized learning plans for every student, whether they're behind or ahead in math. Our Fairfield location is looking for a Center Director to lead center operations, build lasting relationships with families, and manage a team of instructors. This role is the primary connection between our families and the center. You'll combine consultative sales skills with genuine care for student success by growing enrollment, maximizing retention, and strengthening parent relationships. It's ideal for someone who thrives on hitting measurable goals, loves building relationships, and wants to make a real difference in families' lives through education. A Role Built on Training and Growth This is a full-time position from day one. To set you up for success as a leader, we start every Center Director on the ground floor: you'll train and work your way up through four stages, learning the business from the inside out before you're running it. Instructor. Learn the Mathnasium Method and teach students directly. Lead Instructor. Take on more responsibility guiding instructional quality and mentoring newer instructors. Assistant Center Director. Start managing daily operations, staff, and parent relationships. Center Director. Take full ownership of the center, including P&L, enrollment strategy, staffing, and community outreach. We believe great Center Directors understand every part of the business they run, including what it's like to teach a session and connect with a struggling student. That's why you'll move through each stage with hands-on training and mentorship before advancing to the next. By the time you reach Center Director, you'll have the tools, systems, and firsthand experience to run a thriving center and make a real impact on students' confidence and success. Key Responsibilities Sales & Enrollment Growth Follow up on new leads quickly and consistently, converting inquiries into scheduled assessments and enrollments. Conduct compelling parent consultations that clearly communicate the value of Mathnasium. Meet and exceed monthly enrollment targets by effectively handling objections and closing sales. Proactively upsell longer-term enrollments and additional programs (summer sessions, test prep, camps). Relationship Management & Retention Act as the primary point of contact for parents, making sure they feel heard, valued, and supported. Regularly check in with families on progress and satisfaction, addressing concerns before they become cancellations. Strengthen retention by showcasing student growth and celebrating milestones. Guide parents through renewal conversations well in advance of expiration dates. Instructional Leadership & Curriculum Delivery Administer the Mathnasium curriculum through student assessment, diagnosis, and development of individualized learning plans. Document and track student progress, adjusting learning plans as needed. Manage the student learning environment and daily session activities. Manage a team of instructors, training and coaching them to deliver instruction that aligns with the Mathnasium Method. Communication & Marketing Support Maintain timely, professional communication with parents by phone, email, and in-person meetings. Partner with instructional staff to highlight learning plan progress during parent updates. Lead and support community outreach events, referral campaigns, school partnerships, and promotional efforts that generate leads. Oversee general center administration, including scheduling, reporting, and day-to-day operations.
Qualifications Required:
Proven leadership skills and experience in a management, supervisory, sales, or customer service role (education, retail, or service industry preferred). Strong math skills through Algebra I. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen actively and build trust. Genuine interest in sales and marketing, and a goal-oriented mindset motivated by hitting targets. Exceptional customer service focus and a love for working with students. Superb organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple families and follow-ups at once. Driven to succeed, detail oriented, and exemplary character. Comfortable using CRM or lead tracking tools, plus standard email and scheduling platforms.
Preferred:
Previous teaching or tutoring experience. Strong math skills at the high-school level. Prior experience in sales and/or marketing. Compensation & Benefits Base salary plus performance-based bonuses. 401(k) and health benefits. Employee discount and flexible schedule. Paid time off.
