Job Description

Responsibilities The Director, Student Development provides college-wide leadership, management, development, and oversight of comprehensive student development programs that support student learning and personal and career development. Programs and services may include student activities, career development, leadership development, leadership retreats, Student Government Association (SGA), campus clubs and organizations, and community service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Directs student life and student government programs college-wide to increase the engagement and retention of students. Directs the Office of Career Success for the delivery of internship and experiential learning and career services. Facilitates career success workshops and meets with students for resume reviews and interview assistance. Assists Coordinator of Experiential Learning with internship program and employer relations. Supervises, mentors, and develops direct reports. Manages and maintains the fiscal integrity of all budgets associated with the student life program, career success, SGA, Leadership retreat, and clubs/organizations Oversees SGA activities including training and mentoring members of the Student Government Executive Board as well as accompanying students to district and statewide SGA meetings and conferences. Coordinate student organization component of the Office of Student Life including training and advising on student government processes; registration and supporting clubs and organizations and club advisors. Plans, implements, and evaluates success and effectiveness of weekend retreats for Leadership Institutes and Advanced Leadership Institutes. Manages RaiderConnect, the online student engagement platform; trains both staff and students, monitors the system, and produces outcome-based reports. Provides oversight of community service programs that involve Seminole State College students in the community. Coordinate the publication of the student handbook. Oversees the development and implementation of student life and career success policies and procedures to provide guidance for students and overall operational effectiveness. Supports the college's strategic plan for student enrollment and retention; and builds connections and collaborations with faculty and other constituents to support student success initiatives. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Student Affairs/Personnel, Higher Education, or closely related field. Three years of professional experience at the college level in student life programs such as student activities, leadership development, student government, and community engagement/service or three years of professional experience working in career center at a higher education institution. Minimum three years of supervisory experience.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience managing student engagement platforms such as Campus Labs, Involvio, and Presence. Experience managing and maintaining college departmental budgets.

Knowledge of student activities, student leadership development, student government, and student newspaper theories and practices. Knowledge of career development including career assessments, employer relations, internships, and career placement services. Demonstrated ability to work well with and mentor students. Ability to work well in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment. Committed to working in a multicultural environment. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in both one-on-one and group interactions. Excellent Microsoft Office skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other applications. Strong organization, planning, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong customer service skills. Ability to initiate and follow through on concepts related to student engagement, retention, and success. Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and manage relationships at all levels of the organization and the ability to influence a variety of stakeholders. Ability to work in a flexible and fast paced environment. Ability to analyze operational data, prepare reports, and make recommendations. Demonstrates a professional, courteous demeanor. Works inside in an office environment. Travels between campuses and to other local destinations. Works flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
