St. Mary's College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary's City is accepting resumes for the position of Co-Director for The Southern Maryland Folklife Center (SMFC). Position Summary The Southern Maryland Folklife Center is searching for a part-time Co-Director. The Center seeks an energetic leader with a rich connection to the folk arts in Southern Maryland. The Co-Director helps to oversee all aspects of the Southern Maryland Folklife Summer Workshops, an annual event held each May. The Co-Director will work closely with current Co-Director, Jerry Gabriel, Professor of English and Project Director of The SlackWater Center. The Center is supported by a block grant from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) and the Co-Director will serve as liaison to MSAC. Duties will include completing the grant application process as well as the final reports for the state. The Co-Director will also work closely with members of the arts community, local government, academic, and nonprofit sectors, and pursue SMFC's mission. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for following the policies and procedures as defined in the employee handbook.
• Primary responsibility is to work with other Co-Director to oversee all aspects of the Southern Maryland Folklife Center, including the Summer Workshops, an annual summer event held at St.

Mary's College of Maryland (SMCM) and designed to celebrate and support community-based living cultural traditions of southern Maryland (St. Mary's, Calvert and Charles Counties). This will include a wide swath of tasks, including:

• Helping to oversee Marketing & Advertising
• Assisting with Assessment of Program Efficacy
• Surveying of Needs for Programming
• Scheduling Workshop Events
• Overseeing Website Creation & Management
• Maintaining Correspondence
• Overseeing Registration Database for Workshops
• Liaising with Center Co-Director and other staff in order to strategize for all of the above.
• Employee will assist with other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Maintains good communication and works collaboratively with Center staff and participants, vendors, and College staff and faculty.

Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree required.

Experience:

Arts Administration and Event Planning. Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (MS Word and MS Excel) and Adobe Acrobat Professional, as well as willing to learn several web-based applications, such as a reigstration database. Must be willing to work alongside student employees and student interns.
