Job Description
Position Summary The Curriculum Director is Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Detroit's leader for curriculum excellence. This role designs, develops, launches, and continuously improves high-quality learning experiences for youth across Club locations. Working with Program Directors, subject matter experts, and organizational leaders, the Curriculum Director translates program goals into engaging, evidence-informed curriculum, facilitator guides, assessments, training resources, and implementation tools. This position owns instructional quality and curriculum excellence, while Program Directors retain ownership of program strategy, operations, and outcomes. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of youth curriculum, facilitator guides, participant materials, assessments, project-based learning experiences, and instructional resources. Translate program goals into structured, age-appropriate learning experiences that include practice, reflection, feedback, and authentic performance tasks. Maintain organization-wide curriculum standards, templates, design processes, and quality expectations. Design and facilitate curriculum launches, Train-the-Trainer sessions, professional learning, and facilitator workshops. Coach facilitators on instructional practices, youth engagement, debriefing, and effective curriculum delivery. Review curriculum before launch and oversee quality assurance, version control, documentation, and revision cycles. Monitor implementation fidelity through observations, feedback, and collaboration with Club and program leaders. Use youth outcomes, facilitator feedback, and implementation data to continuously improve curriculum. Manage curriculum priorities, timelines, contributors, and assigned staff or contractors. Partner across departments to align program goals, instructional design, staff readiness, and evaluation. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Learning Experience Design, Educational Leadership, or a related field. At least five years of curriculum or learning-experience design experience. Experience leading curriculum projects from concept through implementation and revision. Experience designing and facilitating adult professional learning.
Strong instructional design, assessment, writing, editing, project-management, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a related field. Youth development, out-of-school-time, nonprofit education, or workforce-development experience. Experience with project-based, experiential, or competency-based learning. Experience coaching facilitators or leading Train-the-Trainer programs. Familiarity with curriculum evaluation, implementation fidelity, continuous improvement, and AI-supported design
