: Assistant Program Director/ Curriculum Guide The Montessori Center of Our Lady Assistant Program Director (APD)/Curriculum Guide (CG) supports the Head of School (HoS) in planning, organizing, coordinating and implementing the Montessori program, in a manner reflective of the Felician Core Values for Ministry (Respect for Human Dignity, Compassion, Justice & Peace, Solidarity with People in Need, and Transformation). Under general supervision of the HoS, the APD/CG supports operations of the Center in accordance with State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers. The role includes integration of the key elements of developmentally appropriate practices and high-quality Montessori education in accordance with American Montessori Society standards. The APD/CG works to achieve a "Demonstrating Quality" rating under the Great Start to Quality program. Responsibilities include supporting the Center's school year and summer programs, as well as facilitation and coordination of the children's educational programs and activities. The APD/CG, following direction of the HoS, works with staff to facilitate their teaching of the Montessori curriculum and strives for program excellence. The APD/CG contributes to the collaborative decision-making process in the planning, implementing and evaluating of the Center's goals. The APD/CG is directly responsible to the MCOL HoS for the performance of his or her duties. Periodic performance evaluations will be based upon duties outlined in this job description.
Position Requirements:
Certification in accordance with the American Montessori Society to teach in a Montessori Classroom Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development and/or other related fields preferred Holds training status on MI Registry or able to obtain at hire 5+ years' experience within early care working in a licensed childcare setting 2 years of leadership experience within an early childcare center Embody the qualifications of a Program Director as required by State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers to serve as assistant site director for licensing Possess the ability to utilize appropriate language based on Montessori philosophy tenets Exemplary interpersonal, collaborative, team building, managerial and planning skills Strong oral and written communication skills Proficient user of MS Office software, Transparent Classroom (or comparable Montessori recordkeeping) and phone systems Strong knowledge of (or ability to learn): o MI Registry platform o State licensing rules and regulations o Behavior modification strategies and classroom management o Great Start to Quality requirements Ability to receive and respond positively to work related guidance and instruction from others Criminal background check Required attendance -
Protecting God's Children Training Current CPR and First Aid Certification Primary Responsibilities Managerial Leadership and Program Support:
Support professional staff committed to teamwork and camaraderie in mission Engage staff in shared decision-making as appropriate Meet with other administrators, parents, and community organizations Adhere to the Conflict Resolution Policy to resolve conflicts Assist in management of day-to-day operations within the Center, such as staff scheduling, supporting general office needs, answering phones and doors Provide in-classroom staffing support as needed (i.e., breaks) Program Quality & Compliance Observe classrooms, engage staff in reflective dialogue, identify training needs, and develop training (or schedule support) to meet MI Registry guidelines toward our required 24 hours/year for GSQ status Collaborate with the HoS and Office Manager on ongoing Center improvement initiatives Support implementation and compliance with State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers (SOM) and Great Start to Quality (GSTQ) standards Provide support and constructive feedback to assist teachers and assistants in implementation of SOM Licensing and GSTQ requirements Manage and update MI Registry requirements and training hours for staff Report to State of Michigan Licensing and Child Protective Services as required under mandated reporting laws Support initiatives of the Mission Integration Team Attendance at facility, committee and in-service meetings, as well as professional development/workshops, during or outside the regular school hours Assessment & Family Engagement Plan and oversee continued education for families, parent involvement activities and community building events Support enrollment functions including tours and family communication, as well as collecting needed forms and registration fees Collaborate with HoS to develop strong marketing strategy Provide support and training to teachers in assessments of children, reviewing weekly news updates to parents and report cards and conferences Maintain the confidentiality of the Ministry, and the Ministry employees, children and families Demands (Physical and Special): Ability to sit (25%), walk/stand (75%), routinely throughout the day Must be able to periodically lift up to 50 lbs. Must have functional senses/manual dexterity to carry out the job and communicate effectively Knowledge of grammar and spelling for daily verbal and written communication Ability to keep confidences regarding staff, parents & children
Environmental Conditions:
Performs duties with exposure to infectious or communicable diseases inherent to the care of children Occasional exposure to loud or unpleasant voices due to unpredictable behavior of children Daily exposure to outdoor elements (sun, wind, cold, etc.)

Demonstrates adherence to State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers, Great Start to Quality and Felician Annual Ministry Assessment, as well as policies and procedures of The Felician Sisters Child Care Centers, Inc. Demonstrates punctuality and adheres to attendance policies Uses resources in a cost-effective manner and manages own work activities efficiently and effectively This is a full-time, year-round position offering a competitive starting salary of $50,000 annually .
