Instructional Coach - Mathematics (2026-2027 School Year) About Memphis Merit Academy Memphis Merit Academy Charter School is a college-preparatory, K-8 school located in Memphis, TN, committed to ensuring that all scholars develop the academic skills, knowledge, and character necessary to succeed in high school, college, and life. Position Overview Memphis Merit Academy is seeking a results-driven Instructional Coach - Mathematics to support and elevate math instruction across the school. This leader will work in lock step with The Learning Lounge, our third-party instructional partner , to implement coaching systems, strengthen Tier I instruction, and drive measurable gains in student achievement. The Math Instructional Coach will serve as a key member of the leadership team and will ensure tight alignment between internal instructional priorities and coaching frameworks, tools, and data cycles . This role requires a highly strategic, execution-focused educator who thrives in structured environments and is relentless about achieving academic results. Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Leadership (Mathematics) Lead the execution of a schoolwide math vision aligned to Tennessee standards and The Learning Lounge instructional framework Ensure fidelity of implementation of math curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment systems Monitor and strengthen Tier I instruction and intervention systems (RTI) Align instructional practices to drive consistent, measurable student achievement gains Partnership with The Learning Lounge Work in lock step with The Learning Lounge coaches and leadership team to implement all coaching systems and instructional priorities Attend and actively engage in all Learning Lounge coaching sessions, trainings, and planning meetings Execute coaching action plans with urgency and precision, ensuring alignment to external guidance Serve as the internal lead for implementation , ensuring that all teachers are meeting expectations set through the partnership Provide real-time feedback and insight to both school leadership and The Learning Lounge to strengthen impact Teacher Coaching & Development Lead weekly coaching cycles aligned to The Learning Lounge model (observation, feedback, modeling, and practice) Review lesson plans and provide targeted, actionable feedback grounded in both internal expectations and partner frameworks Model effective math instruction and co-teach to build teacher capacity Facilitate professional development sessions aligned to identified gaps in instruction and student outcomes Data-Driven Instruction Lead and execute tight data cycles in partnership with The Learning Lounge Analyze assessment data to identify trends, gaps, and priority standards Support teachers in using data to adjust instruction daily and weekly Monitor progress toward math achievement goals and ensure accountability at all levels Ensure all instructional decisions are grounded in real-time student data School Leadership & Collaboration Serve as an active member of the leadership team, contributing to schoolwide strategy and planning Partner with the Director of Lower School and Director of Upper School to ensure alignment of instructional priorities Support schoolwide academic initiatives, including tutoring, assessments, and intervention programs Provide leadership coverage and operational support as needed Culture & Classroom Environment Coach teachers to create structured, engaging, and academically rigorous math classrooms Reinforce strong classroom management aligned to schoolwide systems Ensure classrooms reflect high expectations, urgency, and a focus on learning outcomes Qualifications We are seeking candidates who: Embody Memphis Merit Academy's core values: Respect, Integrity, Self-Determination, and Excellence Have an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and closing achievement gaps Are highly data-driven, results-oriented, and execution-focused Thrive in structured environments with clear accountability and external partnership alignment Demonstrate strong coaching, leadership, and communication skills Are reflective, coachable, and committed to continuous improvement Required Education & Experience Bachelor's degree required Valid Tennessee teaching license required Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience , preferably in mathematics Demonstrated success in driving student achievement gains in math Experience coaching teachers or leading professional development strongly preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience working with external instructional partners or consultants Deep knowledge of math standards, curriculum, and data-driven instruction Experience with RTI frameworks and intervention systems TNCompass/TEAM evaluation certification (or willingness to obtain) Compensation & Benefits Memphis Merit Academy offers a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for leadership growth and development.
