About The Associate Dean for Curriculum Dell Medical School (Dell Med) at The University of Texas at Austin seeks an innovative, visionary, and collaborative academic leader to serve as the Associate Dean for Curriculum. This individual will oversee the design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the school's four-year undergraduate medical education (UME) curriculum. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty, staff, students, and leadership to ensure the curriculum reflects Dell Med's mission to revolutionize how people get and stay healthy through a focus on innovation and value-based care.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the medical school's four-year curriculum, including foundational sciences, clinical training, interprofessional education, leadership, dual degrees, and third year distinctions. Supervise Assistant Deans for Clinical Skills, Pre-Clinical curriculum, and Interprofessional Education. Lead curriculum innovation efforts aligned with Dell Med's mission and emerging trends in medical education (e.g., AI in medicine and competency-based medical education). Collaborate with department chairs, course directors, clerkship leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure integration and continuity across all phases of the curriculum. Ensure compliance with LCME accreditation standards and lead quality improvement processes for curricular excellence. Oversee faculty engaged in curriculum development and assessment, including designing course materials, evaluating student performance, and implementing innovative instructional strategies, and collaborate closely with senior administration to manage curriculum staff and operations, ensuring all efforts are aligned with institutional goals and accreditation requirements. Evaluate and implement new educational technologies, instructional strategies, and assessment tools. Work in partnership with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Assessment & Evaluation, and other senior academic leaders, including GME. Support faculty development in pedagogy, assessment, and curricular innovation. Represent the medical school in national curriculum-related forums and working groups. Mentorship, Development & Merit Increases Qualifications Required:

MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent terminal degree in a related field. At least 5 years of experience in academic medicine or health professions education. Prior experience in leadership role at a medical school in curriculum development and implementation at the UME level. Knowledge of LCME standards and accreditation processes. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.

Preferred:

Experience with competency-based medical education (CBME), longitudinal integrated clerkships, or value-based care models. Experience supervising faculty and staff. Portfolio of medical education academic publications. Familiarity with instructional technology, learning analytics, and digital tools in education. National involvement in medical education organizations (e.g., AAMC, NBME, AMA).
