Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Responsible for leading and supporting instructional programs to improve student achievement. This position works collaboratively with the campus principal, teachers, and instructional staff to plan, implement, and evaluate curriculum and instruction strategies that align with district, state, and federal standards. The Dean of Instruction ensures high-quality teaching and learning across all content areas and promotes a culture of academic excellence.QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification :
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university Valid Texas principal or other appropriate certificate Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiserSpecial Knowledge/Skills :
In-depth knowledge of PEIMS Data Standards and Texas Student Data System (TSDS) requirements Understanding of TEA data submission cycles, State Accountability, and Special Programs reporting Proficient with data auditing, error resolution, reporting platforms, and Excel Ability to interpret and apply detailed compliance regulations and communicate clearly to staff Strong analytical, organizational, and customer service skillsExperience:
Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience Leadership experience in instructional coaching, curriculum development, or campus leadership roles preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Leadership:
Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of campus instructional programs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with district goals. Provide ongoing coaching, modeling, and mentoring to teachers to enhance instructional practices. Analyze student achievement data to identify areas of need and recommend interventions and instructional strategies. Lead professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on student outcomes, curriculum planning, and instructional improvement.Curriculum and Assessment:
Assist teachers with lesson planning, differentiation, and best instructional practices. Support campus implementation of curriculum and assessment initiatives, including district benchmarks, STAAR preparation, and local assessments. Facilitate the integration of technology into instruction to improve student learning. Ensure the alignment of instruction with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and district curriculum standards.Professional Development:
Plan, coordinate, and deliver campus-based professional development activities based on teacher and student needs. Identify instructional gaps and organize targeted training opportunities. Support teachers in developing and implementing improvement plans when needed.Campus Improvement Planning:
Collaborate with campus leadership to develop and monitor the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP) with a focus on student achievement goals. Serve as a member of the Campus Leadership Team and contribute to campus decision-making processes.Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal instructional requirements. Prepare and submit instructional program reports as needed.Other:
Attend district meetings and trainings as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITITES
May assist in the supervision of instructional aides, interventionists, and/or support staff. May participate in teacher evaluation processes as assigned (T-TESS certified preferred).Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
