Job Description

Summary We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Part-Time Debate Coach to inspire and guide students in developing their critical thinking, public speaking, and argumentation skills. In this role, you will foster a dynamic learning environment, help students prepare for debates, and cultivate their confidence in expressing ideas clearly and persuasively. The ideal candidate is passionate about education, experienced in coaching youth or adult learners, and possesses excellent communication skills. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on students' academic and personal growth through engaging debate instruction. This is an ideal job for a retired teacher or college student. Must commit to two practice sessions each week - either 1.5 hours or two 45 minute periods each Friday. There are a total of three competitions. Duties Plan and deliver engaging debate coaching sessions tailored to students' skill levels and interests Develop instructional materials that enhance debate techniques, research strategies, and presentation skills Lead regular practice sessions, teach debate formats and review speech outlines and argument structures. Create an inclusive, supportive environment that welcomes beginners and pushes advanced students to excel. Qualifications & Experience Competitive middle school debate experience, along with prior coaching or teaching experience. Deep familiarity with debate rules, formats, and current events/topics. Strong organizational, communication, and mentorship abilities to guide students and coordinate with parents, administrators, and leagues s and effective strategies Experience developing instructional materials for debate, l Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage students.
