Job Description
Arden Cahill Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Speech & Drama Teacher for students in Grades 3-12 to begin as soon as possible. Candidates must have, at minimum, a completed Bachelor's Degree. The ideal candidate will have a passion for theater, public speaking, literature, and the performing arts, along with a working knowledge of the technical aspects of theatrical production. This individual should be able to create an engaging classroom environment where students build confidence, creativity, communication skills, and an appreciation for both performance and the many elements involved in bringing a production to the stage. The Speech & Drama Teacher will provide age-appropriate instruction across multiple grade levels, introducing students to the many elements of speech, drama, and theater. Coursework may include poetry and prose interpretation, monologues, public speaking, acting and performance techniques, character development, theater history, stage terminology, technical theater, stagecraft, lighting, sound, and other aspects of theatrical production and dramatic presentation. A major component of this position is the production of five student plays throughout the school year. The Speech & Drama Teacher will direct and coordinate these productions while collaborating with Arden Cahill Academy's Music and Art teachers to incorporate music, scenery, costumes, and other creative and technical elements.
