Neighborhood Dance is seeking a dynamic and experienced Musical Theater Instructor to join our 10-month musical theater program. This role includes providing acting instruction throughout the season and co-directing youth musical productions, featuring casts of students ages 5-16. Our instructors are passionate about developing strong performers while helping young people become courageous leaders, creative problem-solvers, compassionate teammates, and respectful members of their community. Responsibilities Teach weekly acting classes focused on essential performance skills, including diction, improvisation, stage presence, character development, audition techniques, and storytelling. Co-direct youth musical theatre productions by leading rehearsals, developing performances, and collaborating with the creative team to bring each production to life. Create a positive, welcoming, and age-appropriate classroom environment where students feel safe to take creative risks, build confidence, and support one another. Foster the growth of each student by providing constructive feedback, encouragement, and individualized coaching. Communicate professionally with fellow instructors, production staff, students, and parents to ensure a positive experience throughout the season. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, punctuality, preparedness, and a passion for working with young people. Qualifications High energy level and enthusiasm for teaching youth. Excellent presentation, professionalism, and classroom presence. Thorough knowledge of musical theater, acting, and/or voice technique. A heart for children and a passion for inspiring young performers. Prior teaching experience, preferably with children and teens. Ability to design and implement effective lesson plans for a variety of levels. Supportive and encouraging teaching style, with a focus on building confidence while giving constructive feedback. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Significant professional acting experience and/or degree in theater or performance strongly preferred.
