A Driving Instructor is responsible for teaching students the rules of the road and the safe way to handle an automobile or motorcycle. This may involve both classroom and/or behind the wheel instruction. They are required to remain up to date with their regional and national traffic laws to insure proper curriculum and demonstration. Some inform their students on the process to obtain a valid driver's license in their region or nation.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current employee of the School District of Lee County.
Valid Florida teaching certificate.
Experience working with children in a group or educational setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of and experience with organizing student activities and events.
Knowledge of general policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with program staff and school personnel.
Ability to relate to and inspire confidence in students.
Ability to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness, injury, or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Typical duties include but are not limited to
Implement structured activities including academic support, arts and crafts, games, and physical play.
Supervise students before and/or after regular school hours in a safe and nurturing environment.
Promote positive behavior, social development, and respectful interactions among students.
Set up and clean up program areas and materials daily.
Report all accidents immediately to the Program Director.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents or guardians as needed.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
