JOB CLASSIFICATION DESCRIPTION INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR/LEAD INSTRUCTOR A

Transitions Life Center Instructor has a caring heart, is compassionate, and approaches each program member with dignity and respect (encouraging without forcing). The Instructor has extensive knowledge and experience in working with individuals who have an intellectual and/or developmental disability. The TLC Instructor is responsible for organizing, directing and implementing daily activities which are varied and purposeful. This should include a mix of social experiences, life skills, physical activities, faith lessons, and enterprise programs that are fun and engaging. Instructors are also responsible for the training of Direct Support Professionals and providing clear directions so they can assist in implementing the daily activities.

• Adapt materials and teaching methods to suit the unique needs of each member.
• Able to demonstrate a structured teaching routine including visuals and overall good classroom management.
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide daily updates on member progress.
• Instruct and supervise the work of Direct Support Professionals and volunteers.
• Create and foster an environment of respect and rapport including staff interaction with members and member-with-member interactions.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds independently, and 100 pounds with required equipment or team assistance.
• Perform related duties as assigned. Full-Time - 6.50 to 7.50 hours per day (32.50 to 37.50 hours per week) Monday Thru Friday TLC, In Person Starting Pay - $16.00 per hour
