Job Summary Join our dynamic transportation team as a Paratransit Driver, where your energetic and dedicated approach will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our passengers. In this vital role, you will operate specialized vehicles designed to provide safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for individuals with mobility challenges, seniors, and those requiring assistance. Your enthusiasm for customer service combined with your driving expertise will ensure passengers reach their destinations comfortably and securely. Duties Safely operate paratransit vehicles in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations. Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including wheelchair assistance and behavior management when needed. Ensure passenger safety by adhering to emergency response procedures for transportation and emergency stop protocols. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly in English (and multilingual skills if applicable), addressing passenger needs courteously, and maintaining a positive attitude. Respond quickly to traffic changes and adapt routes as necessary to maintain punctuality and service reliability. Conduct routine vehicle inspections, perform light maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly. Follow school policy knowledge when transporting students or seniors under specific programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies. Qualifications Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or transit bus operation; school bus driving experience is a plus. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; current commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and state/local commercial driving laws. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment safely. Applicant posing a Pass wheelchair securement certification is a plus. First aid certification (CPR training preferred) and familiarity with emergency response procedures for transportation. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse communities. Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable; patience and behavior management skills are essential. Demonstrated understanding of student discipline policies (if applicable) and ability to handle behavioral challenges professionally. Excellent writing skills for completing reports, logs, and incident documentation accurately. Applicant must pass a level 2 background check and drug screening. $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
