Aquatic Instructor Part-Time | After-School Hours | North Shore Swim Club North Shore Swim Club is seeking enthusiastic, dependable Aquatic Instructors to work with young swimmers in our Learn-to-Swim and Pre-Team programs. This is a great part-time opportunity for high school or college students, former swimmers, lifeguards, coaches, or anyone interested in teaching, youth development, or competitive swimming. No prior teaching experience is required. Paid training is provided. About North Shore Swim Club North Shore Swim Club is a competitive swim organization focused on helping swimmers develop from their earliest experiences in the water through competitive team participation. Our instructional pathway begins with Lessons, where swimmers build water confidence, safety, floating, kicking, breathing, and introductory stroke skills through six progressive levels. Swimmers can then progress into Pre-Team, where they begin developing body balance, body position, freestyle, backstroke, and introductory breaststroke and butterfly skills while preparing for the transition into competitive swimming. Our goal is to create a clear, supportive pathway from learning to swim → learning to train → becoming part of the competitive team. What You'll Do
  • Teach small-group swim lessons to children ages 4+
  • Help swimmers build water confidence, safety skills, and foundational technique
  • Teach skills including floating, kicking, breathing, body position, freestyle, backstroke, and introductory breaststroke and butterfly
  • Work with Pre-Team swimmers learning early competitive swimming skills

  • Help prepare swimmers for progression into NSSC's competitive programs
  • Maintain a safe, positive, organized learning environment
  • Adapt instruction to individual swimmer ability and learning needs

  • Starting at $25/hour for candidates with 3+ years of relevant experience Final compensation based on experience and qualifications. Schedule
  • Part-time
  • Primarily weekday afternoon and evening hours

  • Well suited for high school or college students, teachers, coaches, or anyone with limited afternoon availability What We Provide
  • Paid instructor training
  • Ongoing mentorship and coaching development
  • Hands-on experience teaching swimmers at multiple developmental levels
  • Opportunities to work with Pre-Team and developing competitive swimmers
  • Opportunities for increased responsibility and advancement
  • A supportive, team-oriented environment
  • The freedom to develop creativity and confidence as an instructor More Than a Typical Swim Instructor Job At NSSC, instructors are not simply following a script.
You'll learn how swimmers develop, why skills are taught in a particular order, how to adapt instruction to different children, and how foundational lessons connect to competitive swimming. You'll receive paid training, ongoing mentorship, and opportunities to strengthen your technical knowledge, teaching skills, and confidence on deck. As you grow, there may also be opportunities to take on greater responsibility within lessons, Pre-Team, private instruction, or coaching. For someone interested in aquatics, coaching, education, or working with children, this role can be the beginning of a much larger path in the sport. Help young swimmers build confidence, develop strong fundamentals, and take their first steps toward becoming lifelong swimmers.
