Part-Time STEM & Technology Instructor iCode Ann Arbor Ann Arbor, MI Job Details Part-time $18 - $20 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid training Qualifications Some college Full Job Description iCode Ann Arbor is looking for part-time instructors who enjoy working with kids and are comfortable learning and teaching technology. Our instructors lead small, hands-on classes where students code, build games, work with robotics, explore AI, design projects, solve problems, and create. Depending on the program, instructors may also work with emerging technology, including our programmable humanoid robot. Our primary school-year program is the iCode Belt Program, with additional opportunities through AI Studio, school-break camps, workshops, special programs, birthday parties, and summer camps. We provide the curriculum, equipment, and training. You do not need to be a Computer Science major or already know every technology we teach. You do need to be comfortable learning new tools, explaining concepts clearly, and helping students work through challenges. This is a teaching role. Instructors are responsible for creating a structured, engaging classroom where kids can learn, experiment, make mistakes, and build confidence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead or support regularly scheduled STEM and technology classes for elementary, middle, and high school students. Teach structured iCode curriculum and guide students through hands-on projects. Explain technical concepts in ways students can understand. Keep students engaged and help them work through technical challenges and frustration without simply giving them the answer. Manage classroom behavior, pacing, transitions, and different learning speeds. Prepare classroom materials and equipment before class and leave the room organized afterward. Get to know students and help them build confidence as their skills develop. Communicate professionally with parents and iCode staff when needed. Participate in paid training and curriculum preparation.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Our primary focus is undergraduate and graduate college students from any major. Computer Science, engineering, robotics, education, mathematics, science, design, media, and related backgrounds can all be useful, but they are not required. Strong candidates will generally bring several of the following: Experience working with kids through camps, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, teaching, babysitting, scouting, youth programs, or similar activities. Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new programs and tools. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain something complicated in a simple way. Leadership experience through school, athletics, clubs, employment, volunteering, or community organizations. Patience, maturity, dependability, and good judgment. Experience with coding, robotics, game development, 3D design, AI, engineering, digital media, or other technology is a plus, but it is not a requirement. We provide curriculum and training. What matters more is that you are dependable, comfortable working with kids, willing to learn, and able to take responsibility for a classroom.

SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT

School-year classes are scheduled within the following windows:

Monday-Friday:

4:00 PM-8:00

PM Saturday:

8:30 AM-1:30 PM Individual classes are staggered within those hours. Instructors are not expected to be available for the entire time period. Some instructors may teach one regularly scheduled class each week while others may teach several. At minimum, instructors must be able to commit to at least one regularly scheduled weekly class for the school-year program. Additional hours may be available for school-break camps, teacher professional-development and school-closure days, workshops, special programs, birthday parties, AI Studio, and other programming as enrollment grows.
