Bright Futures Childcare Center Program Director Position Summary:

The After School Teacher is responsible for the care and education of children and adolescents in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth; providing a safe and fun environment; and working with parents to assess the individual needs of children. Ideal candidates provide excellent customer service, enjoy working with all children, can resolve conflicts and juggle multiple duties, and support the YWCA's mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be over 21 years old; Must have a high school diploma or equivalency; 6 months of experience in a licensed childcare facility; First Aid and CPR certified; BSAC Training or acquired within 3 months of training; Must be able to obtain an approval letter of qualification from DCDEE; Completed DCDEE Staff Health Assessment, TB Test and Health Questionnaire; Must pass a criminal background check; Required to drive YWCA vehicles; and Available 1:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. Monday through

Friday Responsibilities:

To support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance Treat each child, parent, family member, and coworker with dignity and respect; Actively supervise children; Plan and implement engaging activities; Report issues and concerns immediately to the supervisor; Uphold rules and regulations set forth by DCDEE; Serve and eat meals with children; Consider the individual child in relationship to his/her culture and socioeconomic background, and; Help each child become aware of his role as an integral member of a group, and; Any other duties assigned. To maintain a commitment to professionalism Attend all staff meetings and other mandatory or required in-service trainings; Maintain flexibility and consistency with all staff; Maintain confidentiality regarding staff, families, and children at all times; Relate to families in a positive and respectful manner, and; Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the program at all times.
