Duties Deliver classroom instruction on traffic laws, FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and safe driving practices for commercial trucks and tractor-trailers Conduct practical behind-the-wheel training sessions for various vehicle types including buses, tractor-trailers, and trucks with manual transmissions or air brake systems Assess student driving skills through performance evaluations during on-road exercises, providing constructive feedback to enhance their proficiency Prepare students for licensing exams by teaching test-taking strategies and reviewing key concepts such as tanker operations and cargo safety procedures Ensure all training activities comply with federal and state safety standards, including FMCSA regulations and DOT requirements Maintain detailed records of student progress, training hours, and assessment outcomes in accordance with regulatory guidelines Stay current on industry updates related to commercial driving, traffic laws, and safety regulations to continually improve instructional methods Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including tractor-trailer operation and bus driving with a solid understanding of manual transmission systems and air brake functionality Prior experience in commercial driving instruction or adult education with a focus on classroom teaching techniques Familiarity with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and safety compliance requirements for commercial vehicles Knowledge of tanker operations and handling hazardous materials is highly desirable Strong understanding of traffic laws applicable to commercial vehicles and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to adult learners Demonstrated ability to teach in both classroom settings and practical driving environments while maintaining a positive learning atmosphere Valid CDL license with appropriate endorsements for passenger or hazardous materials as applicable; experience with different vehicle types including those requiring air brake or manual transmission operation is preferred Embark on a rewarding career where your expertise drives success!
