Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our team, providing safe and reliable transportation services. This role involves operating various types of vehicles, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles, to transport passengers safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to safety, and exceptional customer service abilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the community by ensuring passenger safety and comfort during every trip. Responsibilities Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vans in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance and provide support for individuals with special needs or mobility challenges. Follow all emergency response procedures for transportation, including CPR, first aid, and emergency stop procedures when necessary. Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle, performing routine inspections and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Communicate effectively with passengers, staff, and dispatchers to ensure smooth operations and quick responses to traffic changes or route adjustments. Adhere to school policies, child safety protocols, behavior management strategies, and passenger safety guidelines at all times. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by engaging positively with passengers of all ages, including children and seniors, ensuring a comfortable travel experience. Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transportation. Proven experience in bus driving, school bus operation, or transit vehicle operation preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and state/local commercial driving laws. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for passenger assistance or vehicle maintenance tasks. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus. Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable. Knowledge of child care practices, student discipline policies, behavior management techniques, and teaching fundamentals is beneficial. Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; ongoing training will be provided if needed. Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes and emergencies while maintaining composure under pressure.
